To Freeze Or Not To Freeze...

Hi y'all,
I'm preparing to make my husband's German Chocolate Birthday Cake and I have a question. In order to torte the cake, are you supposed to freeze it first or no? And will the freezing process mess up the cake? My husband thinks it will.
Thanks,
Susan
you don't need to freeze it. and no freezing the cake will not mess it up. u can freeze a cake if you are not going to decorate that same day. up to 6 mouth just make sure you wrap the cake well.
hehehe I'm glad I asked. I never would have thought to wrap the cake to freeze it! lol
Thanks
I have never had a problem freezing my cakes. I always use an apricot glaze which keeps them nice and moist. If you want to freeze your husband's cake for a little while before torting that would be fine. I usually do not freeze my cakes before torting...but i have done it before and some think it works better.
I love freezing my cakes...makes them moistier to me.
I read somewhere on here that putting the cake in the freezer for about 15 minutes helps in torting and sculpting.
Actually I did freeze it (while I was figuring out what to do with it
). It came out very moist and delicious! I think I will do this with all my cakes ![]()
