Last year in July my father was asking me what we should do for mum's 60th. I mentioned it to my husband and hubby said why not send my mum on a trip. that she loved travelling and she'd enjoy it much more than some big party. I just asked mum and dad what they thought (we had a big party for mum's 58th in place of her missed 50th [another long story icon_rolleyes.gif]) and mum was thrilled with the idea. It all began with a trip to Fiji for 7 days. I tried to find them something really nice, but then when I heard a friend of mine was going to Hawaii i decided to find out what Hawaii would cost me. Somehow we ended up talking about Paris. Mum was excited but then wanted to know how much it was all going to cost, she didnt want me spending too much money on them icon_surprised.gif , and she was depressed to hear the cost of one week in Paris, and didnt want to go icon_cry.gif
So after much discussion the trip turned into a visit to my cousin who lives in Elizabeth (New Jersey), i needed this trip to still be a holiday for them, so I booked the flights with a stop over in LA for 5 days, where they're booked in to go on a tour of Universal Studios, a trip to Disneyland, a day shopping trip to Tijuana and a day tour of Hollywood. Mum is thrilled, dad thought he may get bored, i dont think he will have time to get bored. At the same time when they arrive in New Jersey dad will also be able to visit his own first cousin whom he hasnt seen in 30+ years.

Anyway, I want to buy them some clothes and stuff to take with them, and im wondering what the weather will be like in LA and New Jersey at the end of March. They will be in LA from the 22nd of March till the 27th of March, and in New Jersey until the 14th of April.
I also want to make sure they take plenty of warm clothes if they're going to need them icon_biggrin.gif

Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me : )

Cheers
Nati

Sounds like a great trip! I think maybe the best thing to do would be to go to www.weather.com and plug in the cities they'll be going to- then you can check the average temps for that time of year. LA is pretty consistant, but New Jersey might be hard to pin down- it's been a pretty strange winter and the spring might be just as crazy!

My guess would be that if they packed clothing suitable for spring-like weather, with a couple of sweaters and maybe a light jacket, they'll be fine.

the winter weather around here in NJ, MI, OH, NY and so has been really odd this year so I would take sweetambers advice. You are so sweet for doing this for your parents.

Well I live about 2hrs from NJ and it will still be cold here and there! So make sure they have winter clothes to wear! As of tonight it is going to be 11 degrees here, so it migth be 21 degrees there. Hope they have a nice stay! Tell them not to breathe too much stinky air in NJ!

The weather here in NJ has been very unpredictable. Usually early April is still a little chilly, but pleasant. However, if they don't have what they need they can probably find it on a trip to Jersey Gardens Mall which is in Elizabeth and is huge. Definitely check weather.com as the date gets closer. NJ is a great state, there's so much to do here and we are so close to NYC that I'm sure your parents will have a great time, and I'm sure they will find plenty of fresh air to breathe.

The weather here in the LA area is pretty crazy this year. We just went from 80degree summer weather to freezing cold and rain.

Rain jackets are a must & a light coat or warm jacket, because it gets cold at night, especially in Disneyland. I'm about 1 1/2 hours North of Disneyland and we are headed there in 2 weeks. I am packing jeans, t-shirts & sweatshirts (for layering) & warm jackets for all of us.

Hi! Nasty storm here in NJ yesterday, snow sleet all day, spent the AM shoveling. But its supposed to warm up more towards the end of next week, into the high 40's and 50's.

Forecast for LA for the end of this week through the beginning of next week is cloudy, but not terribly cold. (To give an example, today is cloudy, but I am wearing short sleeves.)

Well we just got 2 ft of snow on friday the 16th and we just got another 2 inches tonight the 19th. I know they still have time before getting to the east coast but this weather is crazy wacky here. Bc two days before we got 2 ft of snow it was 70 degrees here! Well I wish they have a great trip!

The weather folks say it's going to be a nice day here in LA, and warm up over the next few days. No showers due till next Tuesday (27th).

tomorrow should be perfect weather for your parents at Disneyland. I live 4 miles away, it's supposed to be partly cloudy and 72 degrees. It's no fun to walk around the park if its hot. They have a lot of fun stuff to do. I love Universal Studios and Tijuana is a fun day trip, the taco stands are the best! I hope they have fun!
