Does anyone know if glucose is the same as simple syrup (boiled sugar and water)?
Thanks!
No, glucose is much thicker- more like corn syrup. I have heard a lot of people say that you can sub. corn syrup for glucose, but I haven't tried it myself.
yes, you can sub glucose and corn syrup.
this might help too:

glucose has less water content than Corn syrup. You can sub in a pinch but don't do it as regular practice.
Yes, I substitute corn syrup for glucose on the fondant Wilton recipe. It works great!
I substitute corn syrup for glucose 1 to 1 in my fondant recipe. I actually think it works better. Makes the fondant more workable.
Simple Syrup is a soaking or brushing syrup to moisten and flavor baked cakes. I make an equal amount mixtute
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup water
boil till sugar is dissolved and mixture is clear.
It can be flavored with a few drops of any of your favorite extracts to compliment the flavor of your filling or cake. I cut the tops off all my cakes to level, brush the simple syrup onto the cut side of the cake layers with a pastry brush, just enough to moisten, not soaking. One that is very good on a white or chocolate cake is to use the same proportions above but add 2 teaspoons instant coffee granules when boiling the syrup. Remove from stove and cool a bit, then add 1 Tablespoon Kahlua liquere.
Ok ....just an FYI ... I made a trip to Hobby Lobby and purchased a jar of the glucose. Of course I CAN read the side of the jar where the ONLY ingredient listed is corn syrup! However, I don't know how condensed (texture) it is. It is very condensed. So, if ya want the exact same thing just boil it down a little to condense!
