My DH works at a health club/gym. I want to make a cake to take with him since he is the manager and I think his employees might like an extra treat. Any ideas on something I can make? I want to make it extra special for all the hard working people that work there, and of course would like some cake orders in the future as well. ANy suggestions are welcome icon_smile.gif

Yeah it has to be healthy, sounds funny making a cake for a health club lol. The carrot cake in the Cake Mix Doctor book is GREAT!

If you can do fondant figures I am picturing some people on exercise/yoga mats, maybe some wieghts & jump ropes laying around.
Or you could do a basic cake and come up with a cool saying.
Sorry thats all I have right now, good luck!

carrot cake IS one of the most fatening cakes around...at least the way I make it..lo.

you can do a zucchini cake..or even "heathy" cupcakes cake, for sampling.

Most people that are at the gym eighter can eat like horses and work everything off or...don't eat any sugar or processed flour..

tough call..

Just make your best recipe and let them fight it out!

I say go all the way with everything UNhealthy! If they are at the gym they will snack on it before they work out and burn off what they had.

I would make a scale with all zero's. Then write "Cake Doesn't Count!" across it.

I'd think it's a little weird to be bringing cake to the gym. It's a nice thought but in reality maybe not such a great idea.

I don't see the problem with it. At my gym, we have a "bar" where they sell fruit drinks and shakes, and not everything is super healthy. I say make a regular cake, and let them decide if they like your baking enough to order more, and maybe then someone will come to you asking for a healthy cake.

Thanks for the ideas. I didn't think it was weird, because for their grand opening they had a huge cake. It was pretty, (was in the shape of the building) but tasted really bad!!! Everyone wanted cake that tasted good. Anyways, for a lot of the people they just work there, not work out. So it is a job, not a way of life. I work out and I still eat cake, so I didn't think it was that big of a deal icon_wink.gif

Make a yummy, unhealthy cake! Just because they work at the gym doesn't mean they don't eat unhealthy foods. You never know, you might try to get all healthy on their a** and turn away more orders than you'd get. An unhealthy cake is way better than a healthy cake. If someone's going to eat cake they may as well do it right!
I like the scale idea. =D

Thanks, that is too great icon_wink.gif Might as well just make it taste good, and let them decide if they will eat it. If not them maybe a family member may need a cake some day!!

I agree, they do not all work out. It is a "job" for them if they work at the front desk, babysitting, ect. The personal trainers each way more junk food than I ever thought possible, haha...

I like the scale idea too, gotta work on that one!!

I absolutely love the scale idea also, and it's correct..my friend who is a professional body builder LOVES cheesecake.

He's always bothering me to make him one...the first thing he eats when he breaks training... thumbs_up.gif

I think you should put a fondant chubby person on the top eating a tiered cake icon_biggrin.gif . Honestly though, there's a lot of fun you can have with this cake: weights, aerobics, those nasty little balls of death you balance on...

Even people who work at a gym have a sweet tooth. I say make the best tasting cake in your recipe box, and then decorate it in a way that you know will get you orders. Mother's day is coming around. Maybe you should use flowers and pastel colours. But hey that's just my idea.
