ok, so i just finished the 8ball cake and it's pretty tall, doesn't fit in the box i bought and doesn't fit in anything i have (i like to have a lid). any suggestions? my other question is that i'd like to keep it in the fridge over night, i'm delivering it tomorrow at noon, but since it doesn't have a lid, will it be ok??? i guess i'm afraid it'll pick up "fridge smell". am i nuts or does anyone else understand? i don't know what to do!!!

Not sure how to cover it to put it in the fridge but for delivery you can use a rubermaid tote. Use the lid for the bottom and the tote for the top. Put a piece of non skid rubber mat under it so it doesn't slid in the car.

Do you have two of the same size cake boxes? The size that will fit the bottom of your cake? If so all is not lost. Make up the boxes and cut off the tops of them (yes cut them off). Now you have two bottoms of boxes. Put the cake in the bottom of one box and put the other bottom on top of the cake as a lid. Chances are it will fit. IF NOT, take the lid sections and cut them into four lengths. Now fold those lengths in half lengthwise. Put those in the corners of the bottom box and staple in for use as pillars (this part helps if you have a much longer box for use as pillars.) Then place the second bottom of the box on top for a lid over the pillars which will raise it up some to accomodate your cake.

Gosh I hope all that made sense!! Hope that helps!! icon_smile.gif

I would not put it in the refrigerator - leave it out at room temperature.

I'm not really sure what to tell you, but I wanted to say that your cake is perfect! Great job! I love it!

thanks for the ideas, i'll have to try the box system that bobwonderbuns suggested, and yes i understood. i did try the rubbermaid thing, and it was about and inch too short. i guess i'll have to leave it out of the fridge though. anyway, thanks again. i really appreciate the help!
