I would like to know what is cake extender used for? What is the purpose of it? As you can see I am new to the cake decorating. Thanks!!

Its just a way of adding ingredients to a cake mix to increase the amount - or extend it. Basically getting more cake out of a cake mix.

It is when you add other ingredients to your cake mix, such as pudding mix, flour sugar, extra eggs, and butter. It stretches the amount of batter you have if you need a little extra batter for more cake, but not a whole extra cake mix. Plus it makes it taste more homemade. Then there are things you can add to give better flavor like extra flavorings, milk or flavored coffee creamers instead of water.

I use the extender recipe on here and it's AWESOME!!! It's the perfect "hybrid" between cake mix and scratch. It's very predictable and easy. It makes a really moist, dense and flavorful cake with the stability of a cake mix and the taste of scratch.
