Hey guy's

i have a new wedding order and the bride has decided she wants some cake jewelry with Calla lillies so this is the design i have come up with, what do you all think?

the cake will be a 7" on top of a 10" with some clear twisted pillars, covered in ivory fondant. its a second marriage for both of them so she will be wearing a salmon pink dress, hence the color of the lillies... i will probably add an extra lily on the top or bottom..

i like it but she seems to be a little fussy so i am looking for other opinions before i show her..

thank in advance...

kylie

edited to say if you click on the pic it will show a better view of the cake.

I like the design -- not too over the top and very simple yet elegant. What is the bride like? You want the cake to sort of reflect her personality.

ribbon on each tier?

swiss or other dots?

odd idea:...color support posts dark salmon so they match yet "disappear"?

tone on tone corneli lace (in same shade or very similar as base cake color)

salmon colored cake w/ white calas?

The cake is beautiful and very elegant.Perfect for a second marriage.I agree with the idea of an extra lily on the top and the bottom. The cake doesnt have a lot of decorations,so the lilies can be the center of attention icon_smile.gif You can also add a very delicate bead border or swiss dots.

thanks for the suggestions guy's

i will more than likely add some pink ribbon around the boards, just waiting to see the actual color of the dress first.

thanks Dennysse, i think a delicate bead border is a really good idea..

she is thinking elegant but simply which is funny because she actually wanted lots more jewelry but i tried that and it was too busy looking this way looks better.. as the saying goes 'LESS IS MORE'....lol

I think the cake is beautiful but, love the idea of a beaded border! I think it would be pretty with a pearl colored bead and possibly dots on the cake. Just my thoughts!

Love the cake! Agree with extra calla lilies (my favorite flower). The cake jewelry really makes it "POP"!

You might think about using a diamond impression mat for the sides and placing some small piece of "jewelry," like a bead on every other, or every other two, three intersection points. Just something to answer her desire for "lots" of jewelry and bring just a touch of sparkle to the sides all around the cake. I can't wait to see the finished product. I really like the design--it is simple, but elegant. I'll be watching for your pics.

Very classy and elegant! I wouldn't add too much to comlpicate it. A nice, simple border, like the bead border that was mentioned. I also liked the idea of making the fondant on the pillars match the lilles and ribbon on the board. That would look really neat and add some interest without making it busy! I LOVE the jewels. That is right up my alley!!!

Pretty and clean simple elegance.

Considerations to try different optional additions:

Cornelli lace on the top of the tiers and a fondant covered board rather than the silver perhaps... odd numbers are good so adding a third calla lily may work out well, but the lilies may then need to be smaller. You could try white calla lilies with salmon "pistal?". Might be cool to try a pretty and simple wite on white mongram on the top tier. A small bead border at the base of both tiers is a great idea to try as suggested also.
If you like the fondant covered board, you may want to have a calla lily on the base. Someone suggested a ribbon border. Perhaps trying a fondant ribbon rather than material would be a nice touch.

Looks great.
I've been doing several mock ups of a wedding cake lately myself....

I'm certain you will come up with a wonderful design.

why only for a second marriage? To me it is suitable for any wedding.

Hey guy's

just wanted to follow up on this design for an upcoming wedding cake, i have the top tier done and wanted to know what you all think it looks like..

the bride wanted to add some orchids as well as she is having these as her flowers (calla lilies aren't in season here at the moment).

it a fruit cake so i knew i could get it done sooner, and i wanted a chance to get the placement of flowers and jewelry right instead of doing it a day before the wedding...

i would love to here what you all think, i am hoping to get the bottom tier done in the week or so..

thanks

hi thecupcakemom

thank you for your suggestion, but piped borders is not something that i do, i have actually never piped BC or royal icing in my life. the only thing i use a piping bag and tip for is my cupcakes......lol.

its just not my style of finishing a cake...

cheers
