My DH came to the bathroom door while I was taking a shower to tell me that my sweet son was leaving us.
I rush out to find he has found two small (decorative) suitcases by the front door and has packed his things and is walking out.
I think it's all the time I spend on CC that caused the problem. After a hug, some kisses, a few i love you's, some clothes and some milk he has decided to stay with us a little longer. ![]()
All is well now ![]()
The Runaway
Too cute, even with the blurred out face.
My second son left us too, when he was 4 years old. He wrapped up some Lego's, a piece of bread and a soft drink and went out and climbed into the apricot tree and stayed for about half an hour. He wasn't upset about anything, he just wanted to try it out. ![]()
Last summer my 7 year old told me he was running away so I told him fine but he wasn't allowed to leave the yard and once he left the house he couldn't come in until he decided to live at home. He got hungry and started remembering things he needed so he came back and unpacked. ![]()
My mother told me when I was 4 I told her I was running away as well. I got the suitcase and packed it with toys. No clothes. I started my way to the front door and my mother told me that she would miss me. She told me before I even got to the front door I started crying and told her I was homesick and I was never going to run away again!
I hadn't even gotten to the front door!
Our son decided to leave us about 2 years ago as well. He's our middle child, and very thoughtful and mechanical minded. He was 4, in preschool and very knowledge about the world
you know. So he packed his backpack with snacks, juice boxes, and a sandwhich that he made himself. (I was clueless, though he was making himself lunch, and was letting him "be grown up"!) After getting ready, he put his coat on, came out to the garage, and told us he was leaving. He got on his bike (it still had training wheels!!) and road off in a mad dash, and then came to a screeching stop at the end of the driveway. After the dust cleared, we asked him what was wrong. He said, "I'm not allowed to go any farther than this!!) We were in tears from laughing so hard. I walked him back inside, and we had some cookies, and he decided to give us another try!!
We haven't had any other episodes, so we must have cleaned our act up!!

OMG that driveway story was WAY too funny! I am in tears over here. my kids haven't tried to run away yet and I hope they dont, but if they do I need it to be funny like this so I don't BEAT THEY TAIL! j/k
OMG y'all have me laughing so hard right now!!!!
Ours haven't ran away, they refuse to! Dd reminds me on a regular basis how she won't leave me till she has kids of her own, even if she's married. Daddy asked her why she wants to leave when she has kids, and she said "cuz Mommy will spoil them. That's what grandmas do, then they'll be spoiled like me."
From the mouth of babes...
My kid at 4 announced she was leaving us to find herself some NEW parents (ya know, the variety that think candy is appropriate for dinner). My hubby who'd had a horrid day with his boss calling to scream at him and had been dealing with her horrid attitude for several days (I had been sick in bed) told her Good Luck, Enjoy those new parents! Opened the front door, pushed her out and shut it.
She lasted oh..... maybe a minute outside before she lost it and wanted her old parents back. Never even made it off the front patio or realized both hubby and I were paranoidly watching her out the window to make sure she really didn't leave.
She hasn't wanted to leave or eat candy for dinner since then.
Kids are so much fun sometimes. My 2nd ran away when he was 3. I can't remember why, or what he packed, but he put everything into his wagon attached to his tractor. He ditched the tractor when he couldn't get up the hill, then he proceeded on foot. I let him get a little ways away and then I started following. He was so serious that he got 4 blocks away before I finally stopped him and begged him to come home. He knew exactly how to get to Grandma's house and was heading for the highway!! I can't believe how smart kids are.
He is still here and turned 6 recently. I almost forgot about it.
My brother did the same thing and kept walking around the block and finally stopped at the neighbors house and asked if he could live there. She politely encouraged him to go home.
great stories everyone! my kids haven't tried to run away yet (!), my oldest turned four yesterday and my baby is 20 months.... however, my sister talked about running away when she was three or four.... she told my mom that she would take the keys to the car and drive to burger king and get a "hangaber"...and then come back home!
too funny.....
