I am wondering if I can use gumpaste flowers on a cake that has been frosted with cool whip/ pudding? Or will I end up with a soggy mess?
I need to make my sister-in-law a birthday cake and she ONLY likes one cake, and thats why I to use that frosting. Thanks
as long as they are properly dry i dont see why not- at least from my experience- ans usually i use a gumpaste/mmf combo
That's why I am wondering, because I used some of the daisy's we made in class the other night on some cupcakes that were frosted with BC and today the flowers are soggy. So I'm thinking with the cool whip, being more moist, would they do the same thing? Or do I sit the flowers on the cake with a cake board, (like a wedding topper of sorts) just before we get there.?
Last year for my mom's birthday I made a german chocolate cake with gumpaste roses on top. I had dropped it off at her house before I went to class and we ate it after class. In the 3-4 hours the flowers got soft ahd 'wilted'. They were closed up in a cake carrier so I figured it was from the moisture.
I'd say to easy your mind then you can do a cake board or just put the flowers on right before. If you think she might want to save the flowers, then use a cake board, so they don't get icing on them.
