That is all I use. I sometimes add just a little more liquid for cupcakes and to frost my cake. It crusts real nicely and smooths out nice.

I love this recipe! I just tried it and it's SO much better than using all salted butter with the shortening! I can't believe how much it cut the sweetness!
I'll never make it any other way again! It's just another wonderful tip I've learned on CC!

I love the recipe, but I use water instead of milk so the cakes don't have to be refrigerated. I don't like the chocolate buttercream dream recipe, however, because the chocolate flavor tastes "fake".

does using water versus milk affect the flavor? I was thinking the same think about the milk and it having to be refrigerated.

Using water instead of milk doesn't seem to affect the flavor at all.

Love it! I think that using the 1 stick salted butter, 1 stick unsalted is the key. Much better than an all Crisco bc!

i use this to, and it's fantastic. I make cupcakes and cakes with it. To decorate, I make it stiff and add some meringue powder (i tsp to a half batch)
