I was wondering about what kind of decorating you would always love to do I mean here on CC I saw everybody did everything like FBCT, Fondant, sugar art, gum paste art................

But can you share what kind of decoration would you like to do anytime?

Like I am always ready to do shell borders icon_smile.gificon_redface.gifthumbs_up.gif or somebody would love to do drop flowers, making roses, lace work or just lattering.

Thanks for sharing with me your ONLY ONE favorite decorating thing. (I know everybody has more than one and because of its difficult to say about ONLY ONE thats why am excited to know about your only one.thumbs_up.gif )

Well, I haven't been doing this long....but my favorite is playing with fondant! I love making figurines and what-not from it. I went crazy with this cake I have due tomorrow! I made a bassinet, baby, rug, blanket, blocks, train, baby powder bottle, nook, and a teddy bear! I think that was all I made for it lol=) So my fun is making things out of fondant and seeing em all finished! Jen

I guess I would have to say basketweave. I do it so often and find it easy and rewarding because it just makes the sides of the cake look so pretty.

My favorite is Cornelli lace. I could do this on a cake all day long. The smaller the tip the more I enjoy it.

I just had my 2nd class of wilton course 2 and we learned to do mums. I love them. I think I could make them all day in all different colors. I'm dreaming of an autumn cake covered with mums and leaves and beautiful fall colors!!!! icon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_rolleyes.gif

I'm new also, but so far, fondant figures are my favorite. I just made several little carts that look wooden to put baby animals in for a shower cake that's due sunday. I was working on the cart at work and one of the military guys asked me if it was made out of balsa wood. LOL, that made me feel so awesome that it looked and felt that real to him. I'll post pictures once we get the cake finished.

I am sooo new at this - but I have to say, that I LOVE doing basketweave. Simply because it "looks" so intricate but I've found it really easy to do. I think my "basketweave" cake was my easiest so far, but also the one that got the most compliments from it's recipients. Now if I can find a stinking Wilton course 1 or 2 so I can get more comfortable at buttercream roses! I can do them with a fondant base, but not from a pure buttercream base. ARGGHHH!

Gumpaste flowers. If I could get paid to make them all day, I would be in heaven! So fun, and a wonderful way for me to be creative.

I just love working with fondant, I don't get a chance to work with it too much because my customers always want BC. But I love the customer that wants something different so I can use fondant even if it's just for decoration.

no need to take classes, my dear! make up some BC and start practicing on your own! My first roses were cabbages and it took alot of practice for my BC roses to look like ROSES! getting the BC consistency right and te petals, etc....

Well...finished the baby shower cake with all the fondant pieces on it=) Forgot the teddy bear at home, so he missed out on his photo op=) And the blanket I made didn't get set on til after I dropped it off and left, but they said they took a pic for me with the blanket on the baby. Overall pretty happy with it being it is like my 3rd "decorated" cake=) Jen

I used food color markers on a cake last fall, and haven't had an opportunity to use them since. I couldn't believe how fun it was, and how artistic I could be with them. They only lend themselves to certain applications (in my case, a pirate treasure map) but I will definitely be looking for a reason to use them again!
