I am hoping someone can help me out. I have the wilton ribbon cutter (plastic) When I cut the fondant it either doesn't cut all the way through and I have to go back with a pizza cutter or it has tattered edges. I don't like to use the ones with the fancy edges becuase it too much of a pain to fix all the edges. I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a company that may sell a metal ribbon cutter?
Thanks
cocorum21 - i had some problems using the ribbon cutter too. It got better as I got used to it, but I had to concentrate really hard on applying firm and even pressure and even then had some touching up to do on the squigly ribbons. I would love to hear some advice on this as well or alternatives....
I haven't used the Wilton cutter yet. I have a plastic cutter from Nicholaus Lodge and it works great. Are you sure you have your fontant rolled thin enough?
I forgot who made my ribbon cutter, I think it's FMM, and it's the best cutter on earth. It has interchangeable cutting wheels (straight, wavy, and stitch pattern) and different sized spacers to vary the width of the ribbon. It always cuts cleanly, too.

Yes, it's called the FMM Multi-Ribbon Cutter.

I've tried the crisco and that helps from sticking but not really with the cutting. I use the small wilton roller with the little purple things on the ends so I know the fondant is the same thickness. Another problem is when you put the little silver thingy on the end you can't put it on to tight or the wheels won't roll or if you make it too loose it falls off. Plus the spacers don't go all the way to the end of the roller so the width of my ribbon is varied in spaces.
Thanks everyone. I'll have to check out the fmm cutter. would sugarcraft.com have it?
Yes, SugarCraft has it. Look under "Bow Makers."

There was a thread a while ago regarding how bad the Wilton cutter is. It seems several people bought it & have had trouble. Beryl's also has the FMM multi ribbon cutter & although I have the Wilton (never opened it) I am going to order from Beryl next week.
