icon_biggrin.gif I am trying to find the easiest way to have actual 3d golf balls on a two layer cake.. anyone know the best way to make them do the dimples. I would greatly appreciate it!

I bought a candy mold and used that recently. It had half a golf ball on it and I just put two halves together. You could use white chocolate or fondant in it. Other than that, you could just mold a fondant ball and use the end of a paintbrush or something to make dimples.

I sand the end of a wooden dowel so it is rounded, and use it once the icing has crusted.

Hmm what about making cake balls and covering them in white chocolate and letting them firm up a bit and then taking something and presiing the dimples into it.

or making cake balls not sure if you could do fondant over them that might work.

or making them all out of fondant.

I have never attempted either just ideas off the top of my head.

You could do cake balls in white fondant/white chocolate/rolled buttercream/MMF and make the dimples by pressing the tip (handle side)of a small paint brush into it to make the impressions.

I don't have exactly what you are looking for , but you may be able to use this info...
I have a golf ball in my photos. I used a 1/2 ball, then put a thick layer of butter cream (faux fondant) on it. After it crusted, I used the ball end of the veining tool to put in the dimples. My finished product reminds me of the Teletubbies dome house, but maybe the dimple technique will help you out.

I made balls out of rice krispies and then covered them with fondant. I made dimples with the small ball of a ball tool. You can check them out on my sportsman cake.
