does anyone know if i can knead together premade fondant with premade gumpaste to get the same result as adding gumtex to fondant?

i want to make a bow and i want it to dry a little harder and faster than if i was using just fondant. does that make sense? icon_redface.gif

I imagine you could.

I have made MMF from scratch and then made gumpaste from the powder where you add water and then when both were made, I mixed them together.

Sounds like you would be doing the same thing only with premade. I think it will work.

Yes you can - that's what Wilton has you do in their Fondant and Gumpaste class! I have my last class on Monday and I don't want it to end......I want more classes!

ok, next question... can i use shortening (on the work surface and my hands) when i'm working with this mixture? or will it do something to the fondant?

thanks for the help icon_smile.gif

Yes, you can use shortening. At the Wilton Master Decorating class we were taught to add a little bit of shortening each time you begin working with either fondant or gumpaste. When you store it and begin working with it again, just dip your fingers into a small amt of shortening and knead it in. I use to hate using gumpaste and since I started using this technique, I've learned to love it. I use VERY LITTLE cornstarch...
