I have read a couple of threads about Rich's Bettercreme (I have never used it before) and not being able to use it under a fondant covered cake. My question is I just bought some of the bettercreme and was wondering if I could use it with fondant accents. The cake is iced in bettercreme and I want to add fondant stars and scalloped pieces to the side of the cake. Will the bettercreme ruin the fondant? Again, I have never used the Bettercreme before and don't know much about it. Should I just use plain old buttercream instead? Thanks for your help with this. I have a babyshower cake due tomorrow and I'm getting started today on frosting it. Any advise or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

Personally I use buttercream on the sides of the cake and the Rich's for the filling. It's such a pain to work with, if it isn't just so it cracks and breaks into powdery clumps (which makes it unsuitable for the outside of my cakes.) I've never used fondant accents on a Rich's frosted cake, so I can't answer your question.

Thanks anyways everyone. I decided to go with the plain old Wilton's buttercream. Since I've never used the Bettercreme and the cake is due tomorrow, I won't use this cake to experiment. :p It's a big cake too. A 12",10" and a duck cake on top. I'm so new to cake decorating and I'm sorry if I seem impatient at times waiting for a response. You guys always seem to have the answers though.
