Can someone tell me how to make a jersey cake, and do you have to cover in fondant?

what is a jersey cake? Do you mean a sports jersey cake?

oohhh boy! I was thinking the state - NJ (being formerly from there) and couldn't imagine what a jersey cake might be!

I recently made a Bronco's jersey shirt:

I simply cut the shape out of 1/2 sheet cake and iced it buttercream. I used Antonia's royal icing thinned out for the name and number. Hope this helps!
