Cookie experts! I have a questions.

I saw on TV how you could use a basic recipe for butter cookie and make other flavors...

I use a Wilton sugar cookie recipe that I LOVE!

If I want to make lets say chocolate chip cookie, do I just add the chocolate chips, mix and bake?

Can you do that pretty much with any butter cookie recipe? I have seen also how people just literally add all kind of stuff to their butter recipes to make other flavors like pecans, chunks of white chocolate, etc.

Yes, mix-ins can be added to most cookie recipes. They just don't work well with cookies that are thin and crisp. I've added m&m's to sugar cookies. White choc chunks and nuts would also work well. You could do chocolate chips, but true chocolate chip cookies have a more flavorful dough than sugar cookies.
