You may have waited too long. I use Bakers Joy and parchment paper on the bottom. I let it sit no more than about 10 minutes then turn it out. Never had a problem. Don't let the cake get too cool before you turn it out (especially mixes).

yep...waited way too long.

the fats that when warm let the cake slip out had time to cool to point they went hard and became a glue.

fix for the future if ever leave cake in pan more than about 10 min....

rewarm cake until warm enough that crisco would very soft and almost runny (use 250 oven). and then turn out.

I was also going to suggest reheating it just enough to get it out.

ditto on the waiting too long. usualy about 5 to 10 minutes is all I wait.

But if the bottom gets stuck, it's not a total waste! I've been able to salvage a whole layer (or two!) by using a small sharp metal spatula to free the cake that stuck to the pan, and just pop it right in place!

Let the cake cool, and flip it over to help it stick back in. The icing on top will cover any little areas that are still "naked".

I have been told or read that you can also warm the bottom of the cake with the stove to get the grease inside the pan to melt and help the cake to release.

And personally, I've had better luck using JUST a heavy spray of Pam, or JUST a generous greasing with Crisco, and no flour. But that could just be me.
