Firm Setting Raspberry Icing?

A friend bought me a birthday cake from a bakery (she didn't want to ask me to make my own) and it had a firm setting raspberry gel over the icing. Does anybody know how to duplicate that? It tasted very good!

I'd like to resurrect this question--my mom loves raspberry icing and I'd love to find a firm-setting one. Can anyone share recipes or hints?
