OK, I have a groom's cake to do. It's got a football jersey on it, (which I've done in an edible image - with the groom's name on it). He wants small footballs in the corners of the cake. Is there a way I could make these with icing? I was wondering if I could use a particular tip, and how to do it? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

How about making them from mmf ? Or could you do a edible image of them too?

If you have the mini-egg pan you could make the footballs out of cake and then cover them in MMF. For the Super Bowl I did this and covered the "footballs" in ganache and then piped the white lines on them.

Does it have to be in icing? I have seen a mini football candy mold. I have done that before using a golf ball candy mold with great results (I made two sides so I could have them 3-D).

if it doesnt have to be edible i have bought (for superbowl this year) the cupcake sticks but they are 3d footballs. i just pushed it into the sides of my cake and no one guessed when i took them out that they had little sticks on them.

I shaped rice krispies into footballs and covered them in fondant for superbowl cakes. It was really easy but I did have to do two layers of rice krispies to keep them from looking bumpy.

I made some football shaped cake balls for the super bowl. They turned out a lot better than they look in my pictures. The icing laces got smashed in transport but they tasted great.

The football cake in my photos had mini footballs made with candy melts in a cany mold. Very easy to do and tasted yummy.

I made some out of fondant for the cupcakes and cake I did at superbowl time. Look in my photos.
