Has anyone ever tried using pillars covered in fondant for palm trees?

I haven't, but I can see how you could use the pillars as a base for making palm trees. Are they going to be used as pillars for separation as well as being decorative?

There is a picture in my photos where I covered the pillars with brown leaves and make elongated green leaves for the palm tree part. It's the tiki hut picture in my photos.

Thank you so much. The idea for the trees actually came from CakesUnleased. I'll post the finished pictures on Saturday
