I recently purcahsed a diamond impression matt. I have yet to use it. I was wondering if anyone has a tip for using it properly or any tricks that work for you.

Thanks!

Wanda

I've only used it on BC and the most important thing with that is to make sure the BC has crusted slightly before you begin, otherwise it will be a mess. Depending on what BC recipe your using, you also don't want it to crust too much. Being in TX, I usually stick my cake in the fridge for about 10-15 mins to get it nice and crisp, then go around with the mat. Good luck! I love that thing!

Definitely use a crusting BC icing and then simply press the mat into the icing...it's pretty simple. The impression mats can also be used on fondant..I do it on fresh fondant. I haven't tried it on fondant that has dried though.

To keep the pattern lined up I took a marker on the back side and made lines down the center of the first diamond and the last full diamond, I only press between the lines. That way when I have to move it I just place the mat over the the last impression and keep going. I also made little handles to help pull the mat off the icing.

..since they are clear, I never really had a problem lining them up....except for the last impression and I just make sure that goes in the back.
