I recently moved and our new house has a very small kitchen. The only area I have to roll out cookie dough is our kitchen table. I don't want to work directly on the table so I wanted to use a RollPat mat. However, I had heard you shouldn't cut out cookies on the rollpat mat because you could get small pieces of silicone in your cookies.

Is this true? Has anyone done this? Any other ideas of something to put down on the table to roll out dough on?

Thanks.
Christine

I have the Silpat and the Roulpat mats. I use them for rolling dough, fondant and gumpaste as well as baking. I have cut ccokies on the Silpat and as long as the cutters are not terribly sharp or you use a great deal of pressure I don't think there is a problem. Mine are probably 6 years old and are still in good shape although the Silpat has discolored from the heat of the oven, it doesn't have any cut marks.

I have a Roul Pat and Sil Pat and do it all the time.

I think as long as you don't put your whole body weight into cutting your shapes, you'll be fine. I also use just a single push down when I cut, I never wiggle my cutter when cutting out cookies on them.
