Hi guys...I am doing my son's class project...I decided to do mini hamburger cakes....I'll pre-cut everything so they will onyl need to ice and assemble....
any hints on what I can use for sesame seeds? I would like to use something sweet, if possible....
How can I sweeten sesame seeds? Hmmmmmm....
I haven't done sesame seeds, but when I did strawberry seeds I just used icing.
I know there's sesame seed candy out there. You can usually find it in middle-eastern markets. It's pretty much like peanut brittle except with sesame seeds instead of nuts. I wonder if you could find some (I would think it would be fairly easy in NYC) if it would break into just candy-coated sesame seeds.
If you are making mini ones I am thinking that you could just you white non-perils and sprinkle them on the top bun.

Thanks for the reply....the sesame candies are soooo yummy....they are readily available here but they don't break up....they are sesame seeds and honey and they're pretty gooey.......
I'm going to experiment with all three ideas.....thanks guys!!!!
I used icing - kind of a light tan color - for my cheeseburger cake.
