I'm wanting to make a cake for a friend of DH (and mine) who has done us a HUGE favor... we got a brand new puppy a couple of weeks ago that our adult dog is being really mean to. I needed a bit of a break (I had NO sleep for over 72 hours and was cracking up!) and this guy volunteered to take the pup for a few days so that I could get some R&R and try to find a new home for him while DH is out of the country on business.
My DH and I don't know this guy really well, but I'd like to thank him for saving my bacon when it really counted! He totally stepped up to the plate when he didn't have to and probably saved me from going totally bonkers.
What I do know: he likes video games (Nintendo Wii, Playstation), drives a Mazda Miata, loves animals and likes sweets. His roomie is also helping out, but I know absolutely nothing of him.
I was thinking of doing a giant cupcake (like the ones baked in ice cream containers) but I can't find any instructions, or something to do with his interests.
Any ideas on cakes/flavors?
TIA!
Jill

What about doing something with the dog theme? How about a dog house, and put "Thanks For Helping Us Get Out Of The Dog House"

I also did a thank you cake a couple weeks ago. My coworker, another dept, brings in citrus fruits from his trees and he'd always give me a grocery bag full. So I told him, I'll make a cake for you for all the fruits he gave me, say when. He says, my wife's birthday is coming up. All he said was "Snoopy, she loves Snoopy". So I made them a Snoopy on his doghouse in the famous pose as if flying atop his house, goggles and scarf. The bird below was suppose to be Woodstock. The thank you cake became a birthday cake.

Good luck! I think any theme for a thank you cake works.
