I replaced 1/2 cup of crisco with butter and I skiped the granulated sugar and used just the powdered sugar the recipe called for, I mixed the dry ingredients (powdered sugar instead of granulated) poured the hot water on it and followed the rest of directions.
It doesn't have the pipping consistency it's more like a fluffy airy buttercream I used it for filling but there's a good crusting cream I used for the same cake and got it from this site it's the Crusting cream cheese frosting tastes very good and economical too compared to the swiss meringue I used to use.
Are you saying that you cannot use this bc to decorate a cake? what about staring a cake.
I'm pretty sure cakesbycham meant "starring". Like using the star tip to fill in areas.
