Help! Chocolate Clay Is Soft

I mixed a bag of candy melts with 1/3 cup corn syrup a couple of days ago, cut into strips and made bow loops - put them in a sealed plastic container. I took them out tonight to put the bow together and the chocolate is still VERY soft! I guess I shouldn't have put in a tupperware container! I have to finish this cake by tomorrow night - I don't have days to wait for the chocolate to dry out. Any suggestions?

Leaving it in the tupperware container is probably what prevented it from setting up. That traps in the moisture that needs to leave in order for it to set up a bit. I would suggest putting it in a cool dry place (not refridgerator, too much condensation) for it to harden up untill you need it. Good luck, I hope it all works out for you!

Just an idea, and I don't know if it will work or not but I've read about people putting gumpaste rose bases in the oven with just the light on to get them to dry quicker. Maybe this would help with the clay.

I thought about putting them in the oven with the light on - I was afraid the warmth would keep it soft - but I think I will try that - Thanks!

NO, NO, NO--don't put candy clay or modeling chocolate in the oven with the light on--warmth is the enemy. This stuff will never really "dries out" like gumpaste because it has oils in it. Heat just melts it.
