Okay...so I have all my fondant shells ready for my cake. They are white!!! How do I know what colors to shade them to make them look real?Do I dust them all with Superpearl after? What would look nicer an all Ice Blue shell cake or a natural cake with different color shells in browns etc..

hmmm...I don't know, but I may have a shell cake coming up, only with chocolate/candy melts, so I'm curious too!!

Sometimes I marble my chocolate or fondant with just a little brown color and then mold my shells. But since your's are already done, I would dust with a little (very little) brown just around some edges and then dust over that with super pearl. I have also dusted with the a little pink or teal luster dust and then over dusted with superpearl to get that mother-of-pearl look.

You can go to a search engine, type in "Seashells" and click on "Images" and it will come up with some nice photos. For these I used Georgia Peach luster dust, apricot petal dust and super pearl luster dust, and for the Starfish I used a petal dust carried by Micholas Lodge called Cream.

Shirley, I love your shell molds, and of course what you did to them, where did you got them?
