Does anyone know how much a stand up bear pan by Wilton serves? I am doing a 1st birthday party with it but cannot find any info so I do not know what to charge. Help

The book says 12, but you really can get more servings than that. I think closer to 18, especially if you don't use a heating core.

Since it uses more batter than a mix and a mix serves 12 I've always been confused about why Wilton says it serves just 12. icon_lol.gif Personally I figure about 15-18 depending on how big you want to cut the pieces and I tend to go a little small.

It's a difficult cake for "normal" people to cut and serve. They probably say 12 because it gets so badly hacked up! icon_biggrin.gif

That might be it, I made the 3d Pooh for a relative's baby shower a couple months ago and finally had to cut it myself, they were too intimidated. icon_rolleyes.gif

Whenever I use the bear pan I make sure that I use a regular box mix, as well as a pound cake mix recipe together, so I figure it feeds about 18. As for cutting the guy, best of luck! I always put him sitting on an 8 or 10" round so people don't have to cut him if they don't want!

I made a bear sitting on a 14 inch cake. The bear only served 10 people. when you don't have a "pro" cutting the cakes you have to realize that most people cut HUGE slices of cake.

Thanks for all your help. I am going to go with serving around 12. He is sitting in a round cake so there will be polenty for the birthday party. I can always count on CC for quick answers. Thanks again.
