I was making the golden cake recipe out of the cake book and I asked my DH to pour me 1 1/3 cup whole milk and bring it to me. I put it in the recipe and mixed it and poured it in the pans to bake. Then low and behold in my garbage can is the heavy cream container! He poured me 1 1/3 cups of heavy cream instead! icon_cry.gificon_cry.gificon_cry.gificon_cry.gif Will this screw up my cakes? I have never heard of anyone substituting heavy cream for whole milk! icon_eek.gificon_confused.gificon_cry.gif And I had already put them in oven so I can't add anything to fix it either!!!!

Don't worry, should be okay. It's just another liquid.

I think it will be fine. It just adds a little more fat to the recipe. It will probably just give it a creamier texture.

Let us know how it turns out...I have wondered if a cake might be improved by using heavy cream, but I've always been too chicken to try it.

It will be just fine. I have done that same thing. And everyone loved the cake.

I've used heavy cream in other cakes, not this one. I ran out of milk and that is the only thing I had in the fridge and didn't want to run to the store. My cake was fine, just a bit richer in taste.
