Caramel Filling?

I know there is a way to make caramel filling by putting a can of condensed milk in boiling water - anyone know how to do this?

yes there are a few threads on here about it but be careful it can be very dangerous as the can has been known to explode others have done the same thing by just boiling the milk in a pot instead of immersing the entire can in water. Good luck

Follow the thread about how to do it but I did this with an off brand milk and I hated it!!!!!!! It was a waste of 4 hours of cooking time and kind of ruined my pot. My opinion....don't bother.

Nestle has this already premade. Its called Dulce de Leche and can be found in the hispanic section of the grocery store or sometimes right in the same area as the sweetened condensed milk. No worries about exploding cans or funky taste.....HTH icon_smile.gif

Oops, meant to say its in a can just like the regular sweetened condensed milk.....Just look for Dulce de Leche in the title

This is what my supermarket carries in the same isle as the sweetened condensed milk. It is delicious!

suicide pudding=YUMMY!

To be safe, you can open up the condensed milk, pour into a double boiler and cook for 3-4 hours. It's awesome stuff! I made it last week for my husband's Valentines "O cake".
