hi dorothy, welcome.

satin ice is a brand of premade fondant.. u will learn more about it in course 2 and around here on cc (i learn most stuff here)

I use a buttercream with half crisco and half butter that I like, i also LOVE IMBC and I wish everyone would use it LOL

Hi and welcome to Cake Central. I am one of those that does not believe my work is any good and am really hard on myself. I always look at something hard and say I can do that and then feel like a failure when I can't make it look the same.

Satin Ice is a brand name used for premade fondant. I haven't used it before but most people on here rave about it. I just bought some but haven't had the chance to use it but will in the next week or so.

I prefer working with fondant over buttercream but as with everything it's just my preference. Someone else might come along and tell you that fondant is the worst stuff in the world.

The best thing for you to do is start small. Get some styrofoam cake dummies and practice, practice, practice. You will find that after a while you really can take on anything you want and then you can truly say you are jack of all trades.
