I usually torte and fill mine as with any layer cake. ...straight, After it sets up, I trim it to the topsy turvy shape. Never had any problems.

Do you have any extra that you could build it up with?

Well, you could try the wedge method instead. If your cake is an 8 inch, try cutting a 6 inch dummy at an angel and then rest the cake (on a sturdy cake board) on top of that. You still get the illusion of the topsy turvy but the cake is actually level. Then you just put some decorations around the dummy wedge to hide it.

Don't sweat it...we've all done it before! what are the sizes of your next layers?

it's small - I'm doing an 8-7-6, 6-5-4, 4-3-2. I don't have any wedge or dummies.... I guess I'm just going to have to try to cut the top at a bit of an angle...... cross your fingers for me! The cake isn't due until Saturday so I'm a little ahead of the game if I mess up and have to re-bake I guess... but I don't like to re-do things!!

thanks for your help
