Has anyone ever made their own baking strips? I've heard that you can cut strips out of an old tea towel, soak them in water and wrap them around the pans. I was wondering if this actually works or should I just invest in the Wilton strips?

I've made my own and I think that they did work well. I used an old bath towel cut into strips, soaking wet and wrapped it around my sheet pan (11x15) I held it together with straight pins. Although I did have to do some leveling, it wasn't much and I didn't feel as if I was discarding half the cake.
