Does anyone know if cake balls w/o the choc. coating will hold up for a fondue???

this is my last resort...a friend is having a fondue party this sat. & she asked me to make cake for it. I thought i'd make it today, cut it into cubes, and freeze them until friday night so they weren't so crumbly. didn't work, my cake was too moist & when i cut the cubes it stuck to my knife & crumbled to pieces (now i think i should have frozen first & cut later icon_sad.gif )

Now w/ my crumbles i'm trying to salvage things instead of making another cake, but i've read that the balls leak if frozen too long.

I've also seen that instead of creamer, someone used buttercream to make everything stick will that work???

Any ideas would be great I'm really gettin........Grrrrr, yup, GRRRRRR.

Cake balls would work, but only if you take them out of the freezer before using. They need to have plenty of binder or they will fall apart in the fondue. I made strawberry cake with cream cheese icing dipped in chocolate fondue for Valentines Day. Yummy!

They will be great. If you are going to set them out for a bit during the party, maybe put their dish on top of ice. Like have a platter with a rim with crushed ice; top with another plate full of cake balls. Yum Yum--have a good time.

I used a little orange marmalade in chocolate cake for mine and they did not leak and were yummy!
