I was watching the Food Network's Cupcake Challenge and one team made some cupcakes for tasting that had a shiny icing on them. Does anyone know what kind of icing that is and how to make it? Thanks. icon_smile.gif

Might it have been ganache?

By shiny, do you mean glossy? It could have been a meringue type icing.

Yes, it was a very glossy & fluffy icing not like a ganache. It may have been a meringue icing.

Yes...that does sound like a meringue buttercream. Try a forum search. There are a lot of threads with info and recipes.
