Sunday is the last week of Wilton 1 and I'm signing up to start Wilton 2 the following week. I'm just wondering what you do in that course. Do you make a cake every week like in Course 1?

I finished up course 1 last night and our instructor gaves a review of what to expect in Course 2. We will only be making one cake. The rest is focused on making lots of different types of flowers using gumpaste and color flow/royal icing.

It sounds like a very interesting and fun class but I have to tell you, I was bummed that there is only one class cake to make. In rebellion, I told my husband I would be baking at least one cake a week anyway! LOL icon_biggrin.gif

Course 2 is all about Royal icing flowers. The first night your instructor will make royal icing. and you will bring buttercream to learn a few things with. Then you will make flowers every week. Just a warning, there are a lot of flowers covered so you must parctice at home. There is only one cake in course 2 and tha is the final cake. it is baked in the pans that come in your kit. and then all the flowers you made are put on the cake.
I hope that helps. I am actualy teaching a 2 wed night. so if you need anything else just PM me. there is no gumpoaste in course 2

Just one cake? That's kind of a bummer. icon_sad.gif Teekakes....sounds good to me! icon_smile.gif

So, if we bring BC...do we make flowers out of that or the royal? Or are we supposed to bring royal to the subsequent classes?

The first class you'll be bringing b/c to use and your teacher will show you how to make R.I. Then at class 2,3 & 4 you'll bring R.I. and the flowers you made with it for final cake presentation.

I am not sure what we are going to be doing with the BC. Hmmmmm, I bought the course 2 kit last night. Let me go open it and see what I can find in there and then I'll post back to you MrsMom..... icon_smile.gif

The BC will be used to learn elegant new borders; rosettes, reverse shell, and rope. Everything else will be working with Royal Icing and making flowers from it. The instructor last night told us we would make lots and lots of flowers, thus no time to bake cakes every week.
I am still going to bake a cake every week! Baaaaaaad cake baking withdrawels would quickly overcome me if I did not!!! icon_mad.gif

Lesson 1: Bettercream reverse shell, rossette, rose bud and mum. You will also learn about making royal icing.

Lesson 2: Royal icing and color flow. You will use the colow flow to make the bird. Then you will use the royal icing to make the apple blossom, voilet and voilet leaf.

Lesson 3: Royal icing. You will make the Victorian rose, daisy, daffidill, pansy and primrose.

Lesson 4: Buttercream icing. You will learn the basket weave and rope border and do these on your cake. Then you will use the flowers and color flow birds from the above lesson to decorate your cake.

So you need buttercream icing for Lesson 1 and 4 and then Royal for 2 and 3, along with color flow in 2. Only one cake in Lesson 4. icon_smile.gif

Thanks for the rundown, TexasSugar! I was wondering what our class by class schedule would be and without the class book there is no way of knowing. So thank you very much! icon_smile.gif
