Hi --- not Chicago but Gurnee here.......any one have a clue as to how to go about starting a 'home business' here in IL? Been searching all morning and having problems getting any IL websites to load for some reason....

Southern suburbs here - IL does not allow baking/food prep out of your kitchen used for everyday home use. There are extensive requirements the Department of Health requires for your commercial kitchen to be separate from your living areas, have an outside entrance...the list goes on and on. icon_cry.gif Maybe one day...

Hi all!

Its so nice to see all the people from Chicago in one place! I live on the NW side and work all the way up in buffalo grove. I am dying to get my business off the ground, but I need a licenced kitchen to work in. I know there's a kitchen in chicago that can be rented, but I can't afford the rates... $20/hour?! forget it.

Any of you out in the business world yet? icon_biggrin.gif

feel free to email me!

I am from MI but want to move to Chicago and do cakes there. My son has already moved and I am ready to get out of MI.

A cake friend of mine has been researching and has found out all the regulations. It seems that it would be extremely hard to start up and have a profitable bakery. Sigh. . .

I can dream about my home based cake decorating business!
