I found a website that has some information on whether frostings need to be refrigerated or not! It looks like they are still continuing their research, so maybe they'll have even more answers on the topic soon...

Well, anyway, I'm so excited to find this information since I ALWAYS have questions about which frostings I should refrigerate, and I usually end up refrigerating to be safe. But, since I am starting to get into making bigger cakes, fridge space is becoming an issue. So hopefully this website will be helpful to all of us!

Here's the website:

it just needs the www in front. some work without it, some don't from what I've found:

How are we supposed to post links to sites if it takes away part of the address? Please tell me this isn't an intentional thing....

FYI, Sarah Phillips from baking911 posted on CC that pasting info from her site and unacknowledged links is not appreciated and a violation of copyright law.

So the breaking links may be intentional.

How is posting a direct link against the law? I don't understand why that would be a problem. Nobody is copying anything from the site, or using her words as their own. We just want to lead people to her very educational and enlightening forums.

I don't get that either.

Why would any hits be unappreciated?
Posting links can not possibly be a violation of copyright. It links right to the site, so people can read it from .. um ... THAT SITE.

It woudl be different if someone posted a whole page of information directly from that site into a forum post here, but not a link.

If you can't post a link to a site, then how would half the sites out there be found?

Can you imagine ...
Me:
"I found this really great site that I love and go to every day for all sorts of information on baking. They have everything there! I even learned about how to tell scientifically if an icing needs refrigeration!"

Friend: "oh cool! can you send me the link? I'd love to check it out"

Me:
"no, sorry, that would be a copyright infringement. You're going to have to go do a search and sort through all the sites on your own. Good luck with that."

Wait, now, if posting a link in an email or forum is copyright infringement, then aren't search engines huge violators?

What the heck?

My point exactly. But for now this is all speculation, so until we get some real information from Heath, Jackie, or Sarah herself....I am going to leave the topic alone.

JanH, thanks for sharing that information. I just thought that link was great and I was excited to find it, and wanted to share. I didnt realize posting a link could cause a problem icon_redface.gif .

aaaaa ok, I have some background now.

went to the foum search... quite interesting.

I did found what I believe is the second huge thread about this topic. Didn't bother to go back to find the first original.

It's quite a mess. locked threads and all. so as much as I would love to go on and on about how stupid it is that an issue like that even EXISTS, it's all been talked about before.

blaaaaaaaaaaaaaah

Jessmar, posting an unacknowledged link (you have to give some info) along with the link and (copy) pasting info is a violation of copyright.

Sarah Phillips has a for-profit website, which CC is not.

In order to preclude any further turmoil because of improper use of copyrighted material (at Sarah's request on CC), I don't post links to her site. (I never copy/pasted anything from there, either.)

If I think the info can't be found ANYWHERE else, I might send a pm or email.

czyadgrl,

It's really inappropriate to be sarcastic about a situtation when you don't have all the facts.

I'm grateful to Jackie (and Heath) for hosting this website and anything that makes it easier for them, works for me.

Heath just said in another thread that we should be able to post the links and that there must be some sort of glitch. He's looking into it.
