experimenting is fun!
if you try it again, i bet you'd have luck using a bone tool (is that what is called? the gumpaste tools for flower making) to define lines in the hands, between fingers, nails, etc.
i think i remember someone saying that if you put on rubber gloves, the clay doesnt melt as quickly.
molding that stuff is HARD!!! i have yet to try the rice crispies, but i would like to some day, it is such a fantastic idea.
