I found this link for rolled buttercream
http://www.cakecentral.com/cake_recipe-1603-Rolled-Buttercream-Icing-Recipe.html
my question is will this dry rock hard ? and will my 3d people be able to stand up with out melting into very fat very short people ?
I've used rolled buttercream and loved it, especially the taste. I've used it on cookies and cakes. I haven't tried molding with it--because it stays softer than fondant, I'm not sure how well it would hold its shape over time. It was pretty easy to work with--I used it on my first covered cake and didn't have any problems with it.
I used it this weekend on a cake... mine never got hard.... it stays pretty soft.. you can put it in the freeze and it will harden but once it resumes room temp it softens back up.. I used it for some modeling but nothing intricate, just shapes. Your best bet is MMF or something comparable like regular fondant or gumpaste for modeling.
i used MMF and it is to sweet for my family
i can mold with that to a point but it falls apart
I dont want to go out and buy that extra stuff to add to it to make it hard ,
If your MMF was falling apart it sounds like it might have been to dry. If you followed the recipe on Cake Central, the amount of powdered sugar is the maximum you'll need. The amount you actually use will vary depending on the humidity in your area.
