I did a quick search but couldn't find what I was looking for. Does cream cheese icing need to be refigerated? The recipe I am using is simply cream cheese, butter, and powdered sugar and is being used for a red velvet cake.
I make red velvet cakes all the time and leave the cake on the counter for days and it's fine. I think someone said that the sugar keeps it fresh longer. I have never had one go bad, of course it nevers stays around lond enough to go bad
I have had cake sit out all day with a lemon cream cheese icing and no one has gotten sick. But it is very soft, so you might want to keep the cake refrigerate before delivery of the cake.
