There is an explatory thread in the How Do I section of the forums. It was very recent.

Put the word torte into the search section of Forums, and it should come up at the top, or near the top, as it was a very recent post.

Torting is when you take a single cake layer and slice it hoizontally to make 2 thinner cake layers.
There are several ways to do it. I use a long bread knife. Hope this helps. If you need more info, please let me know.
