I have a request from the family after this weekend. For Zebra's. Anyone ever heard of them? They are a twinkie with Chocolate chips scattered throughout. Evidently Hostess used to make them, but stoped quite a few years ago. I searched the internet with no luck. Was hoping someone had a recipe.

I found plenty of versions of Twinkies that I am sure I could add chocolate chips too, however I would like one someone has tried before. So anyone have a good twinkie recipe, with filling? Or any ideas how I can go about making these? I would like to make them for christmas and surprise the family.

Thanks for any help.

Leily

**Edited** I am sorry for confusion, they are called Leopards not zebra's

I have heard of them, in fact I think they still carry them in the Milwaukee, WI market. They are white cakes with chocolate chips in them with a twinkie like cream filling, and they have petit four type icing poured on top them in black and white, striped pattern to look like a zebra pattern.
(Or I thought they still carried them in the Milwaukee market)
Hope this helps!

Thanks for all the responses. Nope they aren't the ones by Little Debbie. However i double checked and they aren't called zebra's they called them Leopards..... that makes more sense now. They were definitely Hostess twinkies though. Thanks for all the help.

Does anyone have a tried recipe for twinkies? That would be a good starting point for me icon_smile.gif

**Edit** I found a website, it look like dedicated to the leopard, however can't find any information if they are still available. Here is the site

Found this on a site that has a posting date of 10/11/1999:

Hostess Introduces Leopards Snack Cakes And Golden Cup Cakes
Hostess has introduced two new snack cakes, Leopards and Golden Cup Cakes. "The snack cakes have new tastes and appearances, but the same Hostess quality and freshness," said Stan Osman, Vice President Cake Marketing. Leopards are shaped like Hostess Twinkies, but are made with a new yellow cake, which is heavier and moister than Twinkies' sponge cake. The yellow cake has chocolate chip "spots" like a leopard and is creme filled. Shaped like the traditional Hostess Cup Cake, the Golden Cup Cake is made with moist yellow cake and filled with vanilla creme; each is topped with chocolate frosting and crowned with Hostess' seven signature squiggles.
