Pudding In Scratch Cake.

Can i add pudding to a scratch cake.

I have searched the forums, but i can find is pudding added to a mix.

Have any body tried this and how does the cake come out.

Hi,

I did try to add pudding to my scratch cake, and I didn't like the results. The cake did not rise as much, and it had a funny texture. It may depend on the recipe you are using. Are you trying to get a particular flavor with the pudding? Maybe there is another way to do it.

HI Berta,

NO not really i was just wondering if it can be done, since they do it in the mixes, but then again mixes are made deferent, to suit all purpose.

I i can't buy the mixes here i did see one store tht carried duncan hines but he want s like almost 4 euro's for a box.

I only bake from scratch so I don't know anything about the mixes. You could try adding a box of pudding to your recipe and see what happens....I actually posted this same question quite a while back, and didn't get hardly any responses...I think it is just not really necessary to add it to a scratch cake.

At 4 Euros per box it must be cheaper to bake from scratch!!

I was wondering the same thing! Here in in Germany the cake mixes are so expensive. Berta, I'm going to have to try your recipes you posted on baking911 and see if I can get them to turn out for me...they look delicious!

Cande,

They are really good....be sure to follow the directions carefully....if the butter is not room temperature or if you don't follow the mixing times they won't turn out well. Good luck and please let me know!!

Thanks Berta! I think I'll be baking on Sat, so I'll be sure to watch the butter and mixing times and let you know how they turn out!!
