I've only ever done cakes for family and have my first "pay" cake due tomorrow. When I put it on the cake board do I need to secure it with something like some dots of bc on the bottom or something to keep it from sliding?? Thanks guys...sorry for all the questions....I guess I'm starting to get a little nervous.... icon_redface.gif

I just put a little bit of buttercream under it before I start icing it to keep it in place.

for a smaller cake, I usually smear some BC on my covered board, but larger cakes are usually held down by thier own weight and moisture. You'll do fine!!

First Congrats on your first paid job!!

I find I don't put any buttercream under it...the moistness of the cake soaks into the board and doesn't move. But yes, if you are nervous you could put a little buttercream.

Good luck, Don't forget to post!!

I always smear buttercream too! Come to think of it I don't think I've ever tried it without!
