I used sparkle dust today and need help. I've used it with extract or vodka before and painted it on. Today I decorated a cake with all white buttercream and just wanted the top to sparkle. I ended up just "blowing" the dust onto the cake but what a mess! I got the effect I wanted but is there a better way to do this. It was just practice so I didn't mind blowing on it. It was everywhere though, I'm still finding it 5 hours later!
Thanks!

I would just sprinkle it on with my fingers. I have done that on several cakes. I also use the edible glitter for that effect as it has larger flakes. I break them up smaller and just sprinke it over the top. HTH.

maybe try brushing it on with a large blush brush.

I use my small angular spatular to pick up the dust and then sprinkle over the cake; great for the bottom borders also icon_biggrin.gif

If you don't have the spatular, a butter knife will work thumbs_up.gif

I use a piece of waxed paper and a small sieve.

I just lay the sieve on the waxed paper and put a small amount of the dust into the sieve. I then sprinkle the dust onto the cake by tapping the sieve lightly on the side. I use the waxed Paper to catch any leftover dust and that way I can reuse the dust.

Hope this helps
