I received a call from my daughter's paraprofessional asking if I would make cookies for the teacher's birthday next week and said she would pay me. I had sent NFSC with rolled buttercream on Halloween and Valentine's. She proceeded to tell me that they would include the children also.

I questioned her to get more of an idea of what she wanted. Then I proceeded to tell her how much I charged, which is $2.00 a cookie. She was shocked and didn't realize they were that much. I then tell her that if she would like a gift just for the teacher that I could do a three cookie bouquet for $18. Keep in mind that my cookie cutters range from 2 1/2 to 4-inches.

She immediately started to tell me that she is just a paraprofessional and doesn't make as much as the teacher and is already broke for the month. Now, I'm asking myself, "Why are you calling to order 22 cookies when you don't have any money to begin with?" Oh, I forgot.......they expect you to do it for nothing!

Had this been a situation where they had ordered before, I wouldn't have minded knocking a little off the price. But for a first order! You do it the first time, they will expect it from there on out.

And I do plan to send more goodies before school is out....because I want to, not because they are requesting it.
