The invitation was "peas in a pod" so I went with that. gumpasteSweetpeas, the baby, plus a couple of babies (the ones that weren't ripe yet!) still in their peapods.
For those who were chatting about the toba garrett fondant recipe, I used it for this cake. After sitting for a day, it works beautifully.
I just love this cake - you did a wonderful job!! ![]()
The cake is incredible. How did you get your sweetpeas to be two-toned? Did you just brush them with petal dust?
Absolutely beautiful
thanks.
When I make sweetpeas I use white gumpaste. I brush the green on the backs and the flower color from the tips of the petals inward. I make mine in phases, which makes it easy (I do that for a lot of my flowers). I make the base one day, let it dry, then color it the next day and do the next layer, let it dry, then color that and do the next layer, let it dry, then do the final coloring and steaming the next day (well, sometimes it gets spread out over longer than that, depending on my schedule).
