I'm completely self taught so this is probably a dumb question it most of yall. I have the hardest time getting my icings in the bags, It makes an awful mess, is there a trick to it I don't know about, or any tips yall can give me. Thanks in advance it is much appreciated.
I put my bag in a tall cup, and fold the top edges of the bag over the rim of the cup. Then just spoon in. Works well for me, Jen=)
I do the same thing, with the cup. I saw the tip on here and LOVE IT!
Another thing I haven't tried yet is to make icing 'bullets'. You put the icing on plastic wrap, then wrap it up completely into a cylinder shape. Then you can just snip the end and drop it into your bag. I hope I've explained that properly, as I said, I haven't done it yet. This sounds like a great way to deal with lots of different colors.
Hallo there! I'm a member of the British Sugarcraft Guild (new to this site)and one of our demonstrators showed us a good way to cope with royal icing for piping.
Take a square freezer bag (i.e. no gussets), cut off one of the corners leaving enough space to insert an icing nozzle. Tape round the bag where is joins the nozzle with masking or cellotape. Use a large spoon to spoon your icing into the bag and with your hand outside the bag scrape the icing off the spoon. and fold over the top. Now put this into a paper icing bag - you need this to give you control over the icing. The icing doesn't come into contact with the paper bag so it won't split. Hope this helps. Rusty
Something I learned from this site....and there are pics in the thread about it but I can't find it....so I will try to explain.....
Take a piece of celophane, just like a square piece, put your glob of icing in the middle, fold the celophane over the icing, roll it up, then you put your celophane filled with icing in your piping bag....its so much cleaner...and you can multi-color things by doing this as well, by putting 2 or more different colors wrapped in celophane in your piping bag...
I'm gonna look for that thread again.....I think I may have confused ya!
